Hey All-
I thought it would be fun to show you my process as I work through a painting step by step. So as I go I will be sure to post each and every step along the way. This idea is one that sort of just sprang to mind last week. I had finished my painting of the boy pirate and was trying to come up with something as fun if not more so than last time. And of course with boys the next level of awesome is to make a painting with dinosaurs. Namely T-Rexs. So this fun idea is keeping with my recent run on imagination themed art. After a ton of study drawings, I arrived at this composition. This is the drawing I will be using as my guide as I go. The next step will be to show you the color studies and other prepainting steps involved.
I did a quick color study and value study to make sure things are sitting where they should be. From here things are gonna start getting serious! Like Wonder Pets serious…. Just saying.
Now I start to make my way into painting the piece by moving from object to object. I make adjustments as I go to the overall mood and lighting if the piece as I see fit. Here’s the rest of the process as I moved from object to object.
