Couple of commissions to post today. The first was a trade off between some friends and I. They asked me to do a portrait for them in exchange for some family pictures. They did an amazing job on the photos. This sadly took longer for us all to get to come together, but that’s what happens when things are busy I guess. But we loved working with on the pictures and I had a lot of fun making this portrait. You can learn more about their photography business at their website: RIGHT HERE
If you live in the Jacksonville, FL area you should look them up!
The second was a poster design I did for a local ballet group called East Coast Ballet. They hired me late last year to do a poster for their NUTCRACKER PRINCE show and asked me back to do their up coming poster for the show SPELLBOUND:
I took good shots of the progress on the painting and I figured I would show you a break down of the entire process.
These are my first impressions of the piece. I had several ideas really taking shape in my mind and I made a quick color pass and interpretation of each and sent them off. I numbered 1-4 the order of my favorites.
The feedback I received was that they liked design elements from two of them, so I combined them together and sen this sketch off for approval. Once we all agreed on this direction I began work on the final piece. Here is a progression through that.
Once we got here it was really a matter of some cleanups and arranging the language on the bottom of the poster to accomodate all of the information there. Finally we arrived here:
