Hey everyone. When it comes to my art I tend to be a traditionalist. I enjoy using traditional pencils and inks, paints and all. But while I have been on a break from my comics Kevin and the Light of Destiny, I have been taking up learning digital inking. I picked up Manga Studio Debut 4 and this program has been a dream. Just wanted to share a drawing I finished last night. You may want to click on the image to see the full on piece and get the detail in there!

I am so glad to see another artist who remains loyal to traditional art but is opening up to the digital realm! I am a digital art student at my university and I have been struggling with myself to choose between the two different art medians (traditional and digital). I think your artwork is incredible and I have to ask, how has the switch to digital been for you? Do you have any advice in regards to how to make the transition easier? Such as tips with the programs?
Hi Melissa! Thanks for commenting! It has been a struggle. I’ve been reluctant to make the move in a lot of ways but out of necessity I have been. I think the most important thing is to remember it’s just a tool and if it helps you learn and move faster then great! If not then don’t use it, or wait until it does become useful. Getting familiar with the tools and learning how to manipulate them. It’s a hard thing to describe. You just have to spend time in them and watch tutorials. I spend a lot of time learning and experimenting, every now and then I have a break through.
