Well like I said I wanted to do early on this year, I want to try and do more master studies. I recently came upon the art of Jamie Jones and fell in love with painting of his. Mostly because I couldn’t break the thing down mentally. I couldn’t see how he arrived where he did with the tones and scale. So i set myself a two hour time limit again and jumped in to learn. The top painting is Jamie’s and the bottom is mine… I hope you like them. And check this guy’s work out if you haven’t yet. It’s phenomenal.
I recommend anyone wanting to learn how to paint to spend some time doing studies of other’s work. It really helps you see a process and is a lot of fun. When I do them, my goal isn’t a complete copy, but a tonal one. I want to see the broad strokes and see the basics of the detail of the work they do.
