Memorial Park

Back in September of 2008, I participated in an art auction event benefiting the local Riverside Preservation Society here in Jacksonville. I was asked to complete an original painting depicting the monument in Memorial Park, which is one of the historical parks in the area. This monument was constructed to honor those lost in WW II. I used to live five minutes walking distance from the park and I’ve always wanted to do a painting of it. Above is my final painting.

  1. I am the lucky winner of this painting. I bought the raffle ticket at the Riverside Arts Festival because Memorial Park is the location where my parents pledged their love to each other during the fall of 1966. My mother even threw a dinner diamond ring that was given to her by another man into the St. Johns River that evening. My original intention was to give the painting to my parents if I won. I won, but I fell in love. Luckily, they are very understanding people. I just wanted you to know that your painting went to a good home. We love it. We proudly hang it in our living room. Since then we have bought several paintings from Jacksonville artists. Yours started our passion for collecting. Lori Bishop
